snowanimal (90/150)

oil paint on canvas sketch paper
painted from life
5 x 6.3 cm or 2 x 2.5 inches

I found it really hard to paint this snow, I don't know if it is because it was overcast/dusk. It seems like on a sunny day, it's easier to see the colours. If anyone has any tips on snow painting, I'd love to hear it!

Hirschgruppe im Schwetzinger Schlossgarten (22/150)

oil paint on canvas sketch paper
painted en plein air
7.4 x 10.5 cm 2.9 x 4.1 inches

The Schwetzinger Schlossgarten is one of my favourite places on earth. It is so lovely when the weather heats up & you can have a picnic and nap under a tree, but i also like how it is so quiet in the colder months.

In Summer.

I also road tested my new painting box. It started out as a candle box, but heiko removed the glass frame lid and replaced it with a wood one & added a latch & handle. He's such a noyce fellow.

tropical santa (1/150)

painted en plein air.
oil paint on prepared balsa wood
10 x 9cm 3 1/2 x 4 inches

Hello friends, strangers, and googlebot,

After reading quite a bit about oils and mulling over the technical details, I have decided to make 150 oil paintings from now until the end of 2009. It will hopefully be a good way to get used to the paint, learn something new, reaquaint myself with art school practices and have some fun. If you are interested you are welcome to follow my blog here.

Merry Christmas and thanks for visiting!
